Songoftheday 10/1/18 - Saxy man is eternally romantic...
"Forever In Love" - Kenny G
from the album Breathless (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #18 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13
Today's song of the day comes from lite-jazz saxophonist Kenny G, who had been a rare instrumental star of the later 1980's, landing a third top-40 pop hit at the start of 1989 with "Silhouette". That same year, he released a massive live album that would go on to sell over three million copies, and even had a single, "Going Home", which climbed to #5 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart (it also peaked at #56 pop). Also, he was a featured artist on Michael Bolton's top-20 hit "Missing You Now". In 1992, Kenny released his sixth studio set Breathless. The lead single from the record, "Forever In Love", was yet another instrumental that I'm not sure I can tell the three of them apart...
"Forever In Love" became Kenny's fifth top-40 pop hit in March of 1993. The song spent two weeks at #1 on Billboard's Adult Contempoary radio chart, and slipped on to the R&B list at #73. Internationally, the single reached #47 in the UK and Canada, and #49 in Australia. He won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition the following year.
