Album Sweep: April 11, 2015 - Part Two...

Part two of this week's "album sweep" is up, sampling the records making their debut on this week's Top Album Sales chart in Billboard magazine. You can check out part one by clicking here , and as before I've included highlighted links to buy all the new sets, as well as some of the artists' other major work. Arena rock veterans Kansas saw a documentary of their history, Miracles Our Of Nowhere , released, and the accompanying soundtrack lands at #37, becoming their seventh to make the top-40 on the albums chart. Along with snippets from interviews in the film, the set includes three of their biggest hits. Back in 1977 their album Point Of Know Return made it to #4... I'm ready to kick off the first half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on the Top Album Sales chart in Billboard magazine. As usual, I've included highlighted links to buy any of the new sets, along with some of the artists' other major work. Support the talent! On the chart, Kendrick Lamar spends a second week at #1 with To Pimp A Butterfly , selling over 100,000 copies in its second week.... The top debut of the week at #3 is the first full-length chart album for Brooklyn rapper Action Bronson (he had an EP make the list in 2013), Mr. Wonderful .... I'm ready to start the first half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on Billboard magazine's Top Album Sales chart. As usual, I've included highlighted links to buy any of the new sets, as well as some of the artists' other major work. Rapper Kendrick Lamar claims the #1 position with his third studio album To Pimp A Butterfly . The record sold over 300,000 copies in its first week. It's his first to top the sales chart... It's time to kick off this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on the Top Album Sales chart in Billboard this week, which electronically tracks the vast majority of the sold albums in the United States. As always, I've included highlighted links to buy any of the new sets, along with some of the artists' other major work. But if you can, drop on by an independent record store. It'll do you (and the economy) good! As opposed to the ridiculous sham the trade magazine has made of the old "Top 200 Albums" chart, which now includes now only singles sales but also internet streaming tallies (so basically they can call anything #1 at this point without contest), Madonna proves again to be the biggest pop star in the world as her thirteenth studio album Rebel Heart sold over 116,000 copies in its first week. It's now her ninth #1 seller and sixth in a row. Her first, Like A Virgin , topped the chart 30 freaking year...

I'm a little late, but it's time for last week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on the Top Album Sales chart in Billboard magazine this week. The first American Idol , Kelly Clarkson, scores her third #1 album as Piece By Piece , her seventh studio album, sold over 80,000 copies in its first week. Hey gang, it's time to kick off this week's "album sweep", sampling the albums making their debut on the Top Album Sales chart this week in Billboard magazine. The top-selling album on the chart is Canadian-born rapper Drake with his "mixtape" If You're Readying This It's Too Late , selling just under a half-million copies in America in its first week. While the regular series edition Now That's What I Call Music! 53 came in at #1, a companion volume tailor-made for this week's upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, Now That's What I Call Movies , comes in at #29. It's time to roll out the first half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on Billboard magazine's Top Album Sales chart (as opposed to their Top 200, which shoves album tracks and streaming into the mix). As usual, I've included highlighted links to buy any of the new sets, as well as some of the artists' other major work.... The top-selling album in the U.S. is the 53rd installment of the hit various artist compilation Now That's What I Call Music! (or Now 53 ), which sold just under a hundred thousand copies in its first week. The collection contains sixteen big hits (plus five wannabes), including the current #1 pop hit "Uptown Funk!", as well as ten more top-ten hits. I'm ready to roll out the first half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on the Top Album Sales chart in Billboard magazine. As usual, I'll include highlighted links to buy any of the new albums when possible, as well as some of the artists' other major work. The top-selling album of the week is no surprise as Taylor Swift's 1989 climbs back and spends a tenth non-consecutive week at #1, selling over 71,000 copies. In the runner-up position is R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, whose sixth studio release Non-Fiction becomes his sixth top-10 effort. His first two albums, In My Own Words in 2007 and Because Of You a year later, both went to #1.... (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Pop/punk kings Fall Out Boy score their third #1 album as American Beauty/American Psycho sells over 192,000 copies in its first week. It's time for this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their debut on Billboard magazine's Album Sales Chart this week, and for the first time this year there's so many newbies I will divide the pack into two, with the second half tomorrow. As always, I've included links to buy any of the new sets along with some of the artists' other major work... The new top-selling album in the U.S. in its first week is the debut full-length release from pop singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor with Title (a four-song EP of the same, erm, title reached #15 last year). Hey guys, this would be the time that I would bring out my "album sweep", sampling the records that are making their debut on the Top Albums Sales chart in Billboard magazine, but in this all-to-quiet post-holiday week (and because the editors at the mag cut the sales chart in half to 100 spots), there's no albums making their debut at all this week, as Taylor Swift spends an eighth non-consecutive week at #1, selling over 172,000 copies...
