Hey gang, thanks for dropping by, and as it's the final day of 2012, it's the final part of my recap of the biggest songs on my weekly personal chart this year. You can check out the rest of the Top-100 for 2012 by clicking here .... #10 - The Lumineers - " Ho Hey "           from the album The Lumineers (2012)           Twostepcubchart peak: #3 (three weeks)           Weeks on the chart: 29 Mumford & Sons made folk-rock viable on mainstream radio last year, but it took the Denver trio to have the first big folk hit on pop radio without compromising any musical intregrity. Having exposure through soundtracking Microsoft ads didn't hurt, though. (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Welcome back gang, I'm almost to the end of my recap of the biggest songs of this year on my weekly personal music chart, and it's time to enter the top-20. If you haven't you can check out the rest of the list by clicking here . #20 - Matchbox Twenty - " She's So Mean "           from the album North (2012)           Twostepcubchart peak: #2 (three weeks)           Weeks on the chart: 26 Rob Thomas is back with the band on this homage to a destructive love, with a model torturing them in the video as well. It looks like they followed Maroon 5's advice and got a bit funkier, and I like it. (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Twostepcub's Best of 2012: Part Eight - #30-#21...

Hey gang, thanks for dropping by, it's time to head into the top-30 of the biggest songs on my personal chart this year. If you haven't yet, you can check out the rest of the list so far by clicking here ... #30 - Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris - " We Found Love "          from the album Talk That Talk (2011)          Twostepcubchart peak: #1 (four weeks)          Weeks on the chart: 20 (in 2012) Rihanna's new signature song did good by introducing the mainstream to Scottish DJ Harris, while the video basically recreated her relationship complete with a Chris Brown doppelganger. No matter, since the synth hook and "We found love in a hopeless place" tagline were inescapable in the beginning of the year. (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Twostepcub's Best of 2012: Part Seven - #40-#31...

Hey gang, I'm back from a Christmas break and time to get back to my recap of the biggest songs on my personal chart this year. If you want to check out the previous parts one through six, you can click here ... #40 - Coldplay - " Paradise "           from the album Mylo Xyloto (2011)           Twostepcubchart peak: #2 (one week)           Weeks on the chart: 17 (in 2012) The most Eno-esque of the songs on the producer's work with Coldplay was there most recognized hit in quite a while, with an ethereal chorus built on a track that I would love to hear David Bowie cover. Combine that with the most endearing "plushie" video I've seen, and you've got the biggest rock song in Britain last year (which crossed over to the States this year)... Hey gang, I'm back to kick off the second half of the 2012 recap of the biggest songs on my personal chart this year. You can also check out parts one , two , three , four , and five as well, and like before, I've included links to buy anything you like on Amazon. #50 - Calvin Harris - " Feel So Close "           from the album 18 Months (2012)           Twostepcubchart peak: #5 (one week)           Weeks on the chart: 21 (in 2012) The Scottish-born DJ and producer had a great 2012, supporting Rihanna on her biggest hit and having has first American hit as a lead artist. This song originally was on my chart back in the summer of 2011 when it was a big British single, but slowly and surely "Feel So Close" with Harris' own conversational vocals over the grand synth hook caught hold in the States. Sometimes you don't need wailing women on the track to make a good dance record...  (Click below ...

Well, the world is still here, so I'm back with another ten of the biggest hits of 2012 on my personal chart . You can also check out part one , part two , part three and part four if you haven't already, and I've included links to buy anything on Amazon mp3... #60 - Matt Nathanson featuring Sugarland - " Run "          from the album Modern Love (2011)          Twostepcubchart peak: #16 (one week)          Weeks in the chart: 18 Matt's Modern Love is a wonderful little gem of an adult-pop album, and the first single from it, "Faster", made my top-100 last year. Now the third, with country duo Sugarland in tow, did even better this year, with elements from contemporary country and singer/songwriter pop to a duet that doesn't seem forced at all, and Jennifer Nettles' voice makes everything 10 times better. It doesn't hurt that Matt's quite the looker as...

Hey gang, I'm back with part four of the biggest songs on my personal chart this year. You can click to check out part one , part two , and part three as well. #70 - Usher - " Climax "           from the album Looking 4 Myself (2012)           Twostepcubchart peak: #15 (one week)           Weeks on the chart: 19 Usher ushered in his seventh studio album not with one of his frequent dance jams, but rather a futuristic slow jam about breaking up that was co-written with produced by Major Lazer's Diplo. The song ended up sounding unlike anything else on R&B radio at the time, and regained his elder top-dog status that Chris Brown has been chasing. I love how both the punned title and seductive beat underlie what's truly going on in the lyrics. (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Twostepcub's Best of 2012: Part Three - #80-#71...

Hey gang, time for another ten of the biggest hits on my personal chart this year. You can check out part one here and part two here . #80 - Miguel - " Adorn "           from the album Kaleidoscope Dream (2012)           Twostepcubchart peak: #9 (four weeks)           Weeks in the chart: 14 The Latin soul singer was another victim of Billboard magazine's screwy chart rule changes that allowed crossover play to propel Rihanna to #1 with a debatable non-R&B song, but that doesn't cloud the fact that "Adorn" was soul music in 2012. Sexy, emotional, and danceable, Miguel proved that "Sure Thing" wasn't a token fluke. (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Twostepcub's Best of 2012: Part Two - #90-#81...

Hey gang, I'm back with part two of the biggest hits on my personal chart this year - you can check out part one here . #90 - Luke Bryan - " Drunk On You "           from the album Tailgates & Tanlines (2011)          Twostepcubchart peak: #19 (two weeks)          Weeks in the chart: 16 Bryan's second hit on my year-end chart owes a lot of its charm to his alliteration thoughout, with the "boom boom"s and "blue moon"s painting a sweet relaxing night-time picture that goes with the pinings of love in the song. Wow. December 17th. I can't believe it. This year went by both blindingly fast and painfully slow, with enough tragedy, elation, and conflict to fill a decade. But with not much ado it's time to kick off my yearly recap of the biggest hits on my personal chart this year. I'll go through 10 a day for the next ten business days (save Christmas) until I get to the Top-10 on New Years Eve. I'll also sometime soon post a separate list of my personal favorites of the year that didn't make this score-tallied chart...and away we go...(I've also included links to buy any mp3 on Amazon as well)... #100. Robin Thicke - " Love After War "           from the album Love After War (2011)           Twostepcubchart peak: #24 (two weeks)          Weeks on the chart: 16 Thicke, yes, the son of Growing Pains father Alan, has fully snagged the blue-eyed soul crown...

Coming Up This Week....

Starting Monday, I'll be counting down the top 100 songs of 2012 on my personal weekly chart, ten at a time, until the top 10 on New Years Eve....
