Disco Dessert 10/22/18 - "That Old Black Magic" from the Softones...

The Softones were a vocal soul trio from Baltimore (Marvin Brown, Steve Jackson, and Elton Lynch), who had their biggest hit in the beginning of 1976 with this remake of a popular song from the 1940's, "That Old Black Magic". Written by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen, it's been recorded numerous times. This version, which was their sole Top-40 R&B hit at #29, spent three weeks at #2 on Billboard's Disco/Dance tracks chart. It came from their album Black Magic from 1977...
