Disco Dessert 10/24/18 - "Ease On Down The Road" from Consumer Rapport...

On the 40th anniversary of the release of the retelling of the classic L. Frank Baum novel as The Wiz, here's the version of the film's apex, "Ease On Down The Road", which was covered and released in 1975 by the New York-based disco band Consumer Rapport. The one-off single featured vocals from Frank Floyd, who sang backup in the Broadway production. Their version spent five weeks at #1 on Billboard magazine's Disco/Dance Tracks chart, while climbing to #19 on their R&B genre list and just missing the top-40 at #42 on the pop Hot 100.
