Songoftheday 10/30/18 - You have given me the best of you, and you have made my dreams come true yeah...

"Dedicated" - R. Kelly & Public Announcement
from the album Born Into The 90's (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #31 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 7

Today's song of the day comes from R&B singer/producer R.Kelly, who with his backing vocal group Public Announcement, scored a top-40 pop hit in the summer of 1992 with "Honey Love", the second single released from their debut album Born Into The 90's. That was followed by the booty call jam  "Slow Dance (Hey Mr. D.J.)", which spent a week at #1 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, but missed the pop top-40 by a few notches at #43. A fourth release from the album, "Hey Love (Can I Have A Word)", which in the single was lead-billed to house music rapper Mr. Lee, climbed to #15 on the R&B list, while "bubbling under" the pop Hot 100 at #101. The fifth and final song pulled from the record to radio would be another ballad, "Dedicated". Kelly wrote and produced the track...

"Dedicated" became R. Kelly's second top-40 pop hit in May of 1993, and his last with Public Announcement. The song climbed to #9 on Billboard's R&B chart as well. While this didn't make any noise internationally, Kelly's debut single "She's Got That Vibe" was re-released and climbed to #3 in the UK in 1994.
