"I Wish" came from Stevie Wonder's most heralded album, Songs In The Key Of Life, where it was released as the first single and topped Billboard magazine's pop and R&B chart in 1976. On their Disco/Dance Tracks chart, the album charted as one, with "I Wish" listed along with "Another Star", "Sir Duke", and "Isn't She Lovely" as the key tracks, and spent a week at #2. It was his first time on that list, where he would later go to #1 three times with "Do I Do", "Part Time Lover", and "Go Home".
