Disco Dessert 4/12/20 - "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart" from the Trammps
"Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart" was a radio hit that pre-dated the days of "disco" for the R&B vocal group the Trammps. A cover of the 1930's standard that was made famous by Judy Garland, the song was written by James Hanley. Appearing on the group's 1975 album The Legendary Zing Album but released as a single originally in 1972, it came way before any dance chart, but its popularity in the clubs translated to its success on the charts, where it climbed to #17 on Billboard's R&B chart and #64 on the pop Hot 100, while peaking at #29 in the UK.
