Songoftheday 6/6/20 -Alone you and I intertwine refreshing conversation for the mind, as we stare we both seek and hope to find real love purified...
"Use Your Heart" - SWV
from the album New Beginning (1996)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #22 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 10
Today's song of the day comes from the female R&B vocal group SWV, who had landed their fourth top ten pop hit in the summer of 1996 with the first single from their sophomore album New Beginning, "You're The One". The second release from the record would be the downtempo sultry soul of "Use Your Heart". Written and produced by the duo the Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo), and lead on a sample of the funk band B.T. Express' "If I Don't Turn You On", the smooth record continued their success on the radio...
"Use Your Heart" became the trio's sixth top-40 pop hit in September of 1996. The song was especially big at urban radio, climbing to #6 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. A third single from the record, "It's All About U", missed the pop top-40 at #61, but got to #32 on the R&B chart, and was a surprise top-40 hit in the UK at #36.

Here's the trio performing both "You're The One" and "Use Your Heart" live at Showtime At The Apollo in 1996...
and lastly, Sisters With Voices in concert with "Use Your Heart"...
