Disco Dessert 6/18/20 - "Take Me Down" from Johnny Bristol...

"Take Me Down" was a single from R&B singer Johnny Bristol. Appearing on his album Free To Be Me, the song was a cover of a track from country crossover band Exile, written by that group's J.P. Pennington and Mark Gray. Bristol's version never reached any charts in Billboard magazine, but it was a post-disco favorite of DJs and clubgoers. A year later, the country band Alabama would also remake the song, and reach #1 on the country chart and #18 on the pop Hot 100 in 1982.
