"Who Is He And What Is He To You" was a pre-disco soul radio hit for the Los Angeles band Creative Source. It's a remake of the classic single from Bill Withers from 1972. Appearing on their debut album Creative Source in 1973, the song was released way before there was the inkling of a "disco" chart, but the track definitely pointed the way for how that sound would evolve. The single peaked at #21 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, and was a minor pop hit at #69. In 1996, indie-soul artist Me'Shell Ndegeocello covered the song, and the remixes of her version went to #1 on the Dance Club Play chart.
