"Shine On Silver Moon" was a club hit for husband and wife act Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., who were two-fifths of the pop vocal group Fifth Dimension. The song on their album Marilyn & Billy, which also contained the first released version of "Saving All My Love For You" that Whitney Houston would eventually take to #1 in the 1980s. The track was written by Gene Allan and Gary Knight, and produced by Davis with Steve Cropper from Booker T & The MG's (and the Blues Brothers Band as well). Legendary DJ John Luongo provided the extended disco remix. On Billboard's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the single peaked at #32 in 1979, while popping on to their R&B list at #86.
