twostepcub's music chart for June 8, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for my weekly rundown on my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Gotye and Kimbra recapture the top spot for a tenth week, while Carly Rae Jepsen (pictured above) rockets into the runner-up spot. Former big hits by Adele, Rascal Flatts, Foo Fighters, and Michel Telo drop off my list, while tracks by Sebastian Ingrosso, Dierks Bentley, and Kerli make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-O- Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artist names to go to their official website for more info, music, tourdates, pitcures, and more. Happy Birthday, Christopher!

There are seven new songs on my chart this week (highlighted in green), and here they are, along with a little about the artist, with links to their earlier hits on video in orange.

The highest entry this week belongs to French producer Martin Solveig, who broke through big last year with a song with was an international smash, even making my top-10, "Hello". He returns with the fifth single from his great album Smash, and it's all about "The Night Out"...

Toni Braxton was one of the biggest R&B recording stars of the 90's, racking up two #1 hits, including the eleven-week charttopper "Un-Break My Heart" in 1996. However, since the turn of the century, Toni hasn't had even a top-40 pop hit. Rather, she has been raising a family, starring at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas for a stint, and a fight with health issues like lupus and angina. She's also been seen a lot on television, appearing on Dancing With The Stars, and being on reality shows, the latest being one with her sisters called Braxton Family Values. She's about to release an album with production work by L.A. Reid, and the preview single is already a top-three dance hit. It's called "I Heart You"...

Pop-jazz singer and pianist Norah Jones has won nine Grammy awards, seven of them in 2003, when she won Best New Artist, Album, Record, and Song of the Year (for her top-30 pop single "Don't Know Why"). She released her fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, last month, and the first single from it has hit both adult-top 40 radio and the top-5 of the triple-A (hipster radio) chart. It's about "Happy Pills"...

Pop-punk giants the Offspring are about to release their ninth studio album, Days Go By, at the end of this month, and the title track has already climbed into the top-10 of the rock chart. The band once before made #1 on the mainstream list with "Gone Away", and hope to repeat that with "Days Go By"...

English boyband phenomena the Wanted follow up their US top-10 breakthrough "Glad You Came" with a song that becomes their sixth British top-3 record, "Chasing The Sun"...

English newcomer Jasmine van den Bogaerde, who records under the moniker Birdy, had a top-20 hit in her home country last year with her cover of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love". After being featured in many television and films, it gets a second wind in Europe, becoming a top-5 hit in France...

The final new entry is by Brazilian Gusttavo Lima, who capitalizes on the success of fellow countryman Michel Telo's "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" and the interest in Brazilian roots music called sertanejo for a song that's became a top-10 success in at least six European countries. It's called "Balada"...

...meanwhile one excellent song re-enters my list, as it's now thankfully being played on American pop and rock radio. It's Brit-Award winning Ed Sheeran with "The A Team". FYI, get his album. it's amazing....

Have a great weekend, and celebrate, my little noodle!
