French Sweep: June 5, 2012....

Since I did a British recap of new songs, it's only fair I do the same for the rest of Europe, starting with France. I've discovered a lot of good music from that country (or made popular in that country) and thought it'd be another good weekly music feature. So here goes...

The top debut on the French chart this week is by Eurovision winner Loreen, who won the trophy for Sweden this year at Baku with her Eurodance hit "Euphoria" at #34..

The queen of my musical world, Kylie Minogue, created a Twitterbomb with the leadup to her new single, "Timebomb", leading up to the celebration of her 25th year in the biz, and her stellar performance at the Queen's Diamond Jubillee this past weekend, and she's on the French list at #46..

Frenchman from Lyon Yoann Lemoine is mostly known as a music video director, helming such clips as Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and Taylor Swift's "Back To December". He also records under the name Woodkid, and he brings all his talent into his own clip for "Run Baby Run" at #52...

Israeli pop/dance duo The Young Professionals debut at #53 with the subversively delectable earworm "TYP D.I.S.C.O."

Swiss DJs Jack Holiday and Mike Candy give a new spin to Robert Miles' classic dance instrumental "Children" at #65

Canadian rock band Simple Plan team up with reggaeton singer Sean Paul for the breezy "Summer Paradise" (which I predict may show up here in the US) at #71

Indonesian singer Anggun represented France in this year's Eurovision (i really don't understand the residency requirements on these things), and her song "Echo (You and I)" enters the top100 there at #74...

French DJ David Guetta is now a household name in the states, but he is still revered in his homeland, and another track from his latest album featuring Chris Brown comes in at #80, "I Can Only Imagine"..

Dance outfit Ocean Drive was one of the CDs I had imported from France a couple years back, I loved it so much. They are back at #83 with "Whatever (Encore et Encore)"...

Au Revoir!
