Aussie Sweep: June 27, 2012...

Hey folks, it's a beautiful Wednesday night here, and a good time to roll another "sweep" out - this time the newest singles down under in Australia.

It's an odd week to start, of course, since the chart is dominated from entries by their version of The Voice, which seems to be the biggest thing going doing there. The four judges on this edition are natives Delta Goodrem and Keith Urban, as well as British singer Seal, and American Joel Madden from the rock band Good Charlotte. The winner was declared on the 18th of June, and it was Seal's protege' Karise Eden that took the prize, and this week she sees four songs join the four that have charted already. A mighty feat for a woman who spent years in foster care, and I'm really happy for her.

At #1 is her version of a minor 60's hit that was notably covered by Bette Midler in The Rose, "Stay With Me (Baby)"...

At #3 is an original song for her, "I Was Your Girl" (sorry this is the best I could find)..

....while her "official" post-win single "You Won't Let Me" comes in at #5..

and at #36 is her "Battle Round" song, Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black"...

Fourth-place finisher Sarah De Bono, on Madden's team, has the second-highest of the debuting finalists with original song "Beautiful" at #4...

...while her rendition of Tina Arena's awesome "If I Didn't Love You" comes in at #50...

Meanwhile, runner-up Darren Percival, on Keith Urban's team, enters at #8 with "Damage Down" (sorry, no video available), and his version of Stevie Wonder's "For Once In My Life" comes in at #17...

Finally, Delta Goodrem's finalist Rachael Leahcar has two songs enter, first "Shooting Star" at #31..

....and her take on the Charlie Chaplin standard "Smile" debuts at #34...

And even mentor Keith Urban gets a boost from the show, as his song "Without You" makes the chart at # 39 after he performed the song on the show with Percival, and it's one of his best songs..

The Voice Australia wasn't the only singing or competition show to make the chart this week. Johnny Ruffo, who won third-place on last year's season of that country's X Factor, and who won this year's Dancing With The Stars there, comes in at #28 with "On Top"...

The former #1 British hit "Feel The Love" by Rudimental debuts at #42 down under...

Two American hits also break through: at #46 is the Queen-epic "Some Nights" by alt-rockers fun...

and Matchbox Twenty are back at #48 with "She's So Mean"...

Thanks for reading! Until tomorrow...
