Disco Dessert 3/5/21 - "Free Ride" from Dan Hartman...

 

 

"Free Ride" was a big club hit for singer/songwriter Dan Hartman. A remake of his 1973 rock hit with the Edgar Winter Group that he wrote, the song appeared on Dan's Relight My Fire album in a disco revamp. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top 100 chart, the album was listed as a single entry, with "Vertigo", "Relight My Fire", and "Free Ride" listed as key cuts. The record spent six weeks at #1 there in 1980. Sadly, Hartman passed from complications from AIDS in 1994.
