"Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" was a club hit for the New Marketts, a group that evolved from the surf-rock band from the 1960s. Appearing on their album Step On It, the instrumental theme to the 70's comic serial television show was written by Robert Charles Kingston under the alias of Barry White (not the disco legend Barry White), and converted into a disco tune by producer and band member Joe Saraceno. On Billboard's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the single peaked at #38 in 1977.
