Disco Dessert 3/12/21 - "Substitute" by Gloria Gaynor...

"Substitute" was a club hit for singer Gloria Gaynor. Appearing on her album Love Tracks, the single was written by Willie Wilson and originally recorded by the Righteous Brothers during their mid-70s comeback era. At first the "A-side" of the single, it would be soon overpassed by the "flip-side", "I Will Survive". On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40, the Love Tracks album was listed as a single entry, with those two songs along with "I Said Yes" and "Anybody Wanna Party?" listed as key cuts, where it spent three weeks at #1.
