"Steppin' Out" was a club hit for Asbury Park, New Jersey native Ray Dahrouge. Appearing on his sole solo album Rendezvous With Destiny, the song was written by Ray, who produced the track with Billy Terrell. Dahrouge previously led the disco group Street People. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top-80 chart, the single peaked at #67 in 1979.
