"Surprise" was a club hit for Canadian producer and pianist Andre Gagnon. Appearing on his album Imagination, the song was written by Andre, who co-produced the instrumental with Pete Tessier. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the single peaked at #30 in 1977.
