Songoftheday 12/5/18 - You never have to worry about my love, as long as you're taking care of business with my heart...

"One Woman" - Jade
from the album Jade To The Max (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #22 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's song of the day comes from the R&B vocal trio Jade, who had already scored a pair of big pop hits from their debut album Jade To The Max - "I Wanna Love U" and the top ten "Don't Walk Away". The third release from the record was the synth-soul ballad "One Woman", where they proclaim how they'll be faithful as long as they're treated right. Written by producers Vassal Benford and Ron Spearman, it filled the void of midtempo love ballads in between Babyface records...

"One Woman" became Jade's third top-40 pop hit in July of 1993. The song also climbed to #16 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. Internationally, the single peaked at #22 in the UK (the success of Jade foretold the wave of British girl-groups like All Saints and Eternal). A fourth single from the Jade To The Max album, the slow jam "Looking For Mr. Do Right", hit #16 on the R&B chart and #69 on the pop Hot 100.
