"Mr. Big Stuff" was one of the very first records in the vein that would eventually evolve into what we know as "Disco". Released in 1971 as a single from her debut album of the same name, the song went to #2 on Billboard magazine's pop Hot 100 chart, while spending five weeks at #1 on their R&B genre list. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal the following year, losing out to Aretha Franklin's "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
