"Let's Start The Dance" was a hit for producer and drummer Hamilton Bohannon, who had played with Jimi Hendrix before becoming a member of the Motown studio band while they were in Detroit. In the 1970s he struck out on his own, and this song appeared on his Summertime Groove album in 1978. It climbed to #7 on Billboard magazine's Disco/Dance Tracks chart, while peaking at #9 on their R&B chart (it missed the pop Hot 100 by one notch, making their "bubbling under" list at #101).
