Songoftheday 4/21/19 - Forever want to feel the word forever, and know there'll be somebody forever by my side...
"Completely" - Michael Bolton
from the album The One Thing (1993)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #32 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 4
Today's song of the day comes from soft-rock balladeer Michael Bolton, whose 1993 album The One Thing had already spun off what would be his last top ten pop hit (so far) in the beginning of 1994 with "Said I Loved You...But I Lied". In Europe, the midtempo single "Soul Of My Soul" was offered as the second single, and reached #32 in the UK and #53 in Germany. Meanwhile, in the Americas and Down Under, the ballad "Completely" was released as the follow-up. Written "completely" by song doctor Diane Warren, the by-the-numbers love song was set up to be of use in the 1994 wedding season...
"Completely" became the second top-40 pop hit from The One Thing in April of 1994. The song also climbed all the way to #9 on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio format chart in Billboard magazine. Internationally, the single made it to #24 in Canada, and was a minor hit in Australia at #60.
