Songoftheday 4/9/19 - Oh what you've done to me with just the little things you do, you've got me crazy over you and it's getting stronger...
"U Send Me Swingin'" - Mint Condition
from the album From The Mint Factory (1993)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #33 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 2
Today's song of the day comes from the R&B band Mint Condition, who had landed a top ten pop hit in the spring of 1992 with the second single from their debut album, "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)". The following year, the group, led by singer Stokely Williams, released their sophomore effort, From The Mint Factory. However, like their first set, the lead single from the record, "Nobody Does It Betta", stiffed, missing the R&B top-40 at #45 and not even appearing on the pop Hot 100 at all, despite have a production from then-way-hot Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. But their fortunes got better like before on the second release, "U Send Me Swingin'". Written by the band's keyboard player Keri Lewis, the downtempo love song gave their fans what they wanted...
"U Send Me Swingin'" became Mint Condition's second top 40 pop hit in March of 1994. The song was the band's biggest hit on the R&B chart in Billboard magazine, spending four weeks at #2. The third release from From The Mint Factory, the lush groove of "Someone To Love" (my favorite from the set), missed the pop chart, but climbed to #28 on the R&B list. Finally, the fourth single, the street swing of "So Fine", went to #29 on Billboard's R&B chart, and "bubbled under" the pop Hot 100 at #118.

Here's the band appearing live on Live At The Apollo...
Next up, another live set (I believe from The Tonight Show)...
And finally, live in concert in 2016...
Up tomorrow: Young soul singer is prepared.
