Songoftheday 4/22/19 - I got a funny feeling honey that you're kinda digging me, but every time you see me you seem to be ignoring me...

"Got Me Waiting" - Heavy D & The Boyz
from the album Nuttin' But Love (1994)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #20 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's song of the day comes from rapper Heavy D with his posse the Boyz, who scored a pair of top-40 pop hits from their Peaceful Journey album with "Now That We Found Love" and "Is It Good To Ya", the latter in the beginning of 1992. The following year, Heavy D released another album, Blue Funk, which was a bit more experimental, and while the album reached the top-40 on the sales chart, neither of the two singles made the pop Hot 100, both "bubbling under" the list, with "Who's The Man?" the theme to the movie he had a role in, even only making it to #52 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. The rapper came back in 1994 with his fifth album, and last to be credited with "The Boyz", Nuttin' But Love. The first release from the record, "Got Me Waiting", was written by the artist with producer Pete Rock, samples the Luther Vandross album cut "Don't You Know That?", and the smoothness of the song got mainstream radio back on board...

"Got Me Waiting" became Heavy D's third top-40 pop hit in May of 1994. The song also spent one week at #3 on Billboard's R&B chart, and topped their Rap Singles chart for three weeks.
