Disco Dessert 4/16/19 - "A Dance Fantasy" from Montana...

"A Dance Fantasy" was a club hit for disco legend Vincent Montana, Jr., under the moniker "Montana". Vincent had four tremendous careers, first as a band member for Vegas stays for Harry Belafonte, Charlie Parker, and Sarah Vaughn. Then he was percussionist for top acts in the 60s including Chubby Checker, Frankie Avalon, and Bobby Rydell. In the 1970s, he was a studio musician for the famous Philadelphia International label and producer/songwriters Gamble & Huff, before finally starting his own label, probably the biggest disco-centric ever, Salsoul. Appearing as the title cut from the album A Dance Fantasy, the song, proclaiming it was inspired by the movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, featured vocals from Sister Sledge. The song climbed to #23 on the National Disco Action Top-40 in Billboard magazine in 1978. Montana passed away in Cherry Hill, NJ at 85 years old in 2013.
