Soul Sweep: August 25, 2012....

Hey guys, thanks again for dropping in, it's time now for the third part of this week's "chart sweeps" of the latest songs to reach Billboard magazine's weekly music charts. In this part we'll sample the latest on the R&B/HipHop and Adult R&B charts.

On the main R&B/HipHop chart, rappers 2 Chainz and Drake spend a second week at #1 with "No Lie".

The highest debut here belongs to Mint Condition, who came onto the scene in 1991 with their big hit "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)", which was both a top-10 hit on pop and R&B. Their latest at #80, also charting for over a month now on Adult R&B, is "Believe In Us"...

Aaliyah passed away over ten years ago in a plane crash, but there's another posthumous album supposedly in the making for a fall release, and at #87 is a taste of that, "Enough Said", from her unreleased demos, and featuring a cameo rap from Drake. She topped the R&B songs chart three times in her career, including her first posthumous release "I Miss You".

Rapper Kendrick Lamar comes in at #93 with the followup to his top-40 R&B hit "The Recipe" called "Swimming Pools (Drank)"...

Gospel artist Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago enter at #94 with "Awesome"...

Rapper Rick Ross had the top CD in the land last week with God Forgives, I Don't, and the fourth track to debut on the R&B from it, "Diced Pineapples", featuring Wale and Drake, pops in at #98. Ross scored a #2 R&B hit in 2010 with "Aston Martin Music"...(NSFW)

Singer Jacob Latimore appeared on the Maury show in 2006 in his Most Talented Kids program, and so far he's charted three singles on R&B radio, including "Like Em All" at #55. His fourth, "You Come First", comes in at #99...

...and at #100 is rapper Pusha T, who was just featured on the #1 Kanye West track, "Mercy". He returns with his first lead-artist hit with "New God Flow" with Kanye...(NSFW)

Over on the Adult R&B list, John Legend and Ludacris spend a seventh week at #1 with "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)".

I was surprised last week when the new Anita Baker single "Lately" entered the main R&B list but didn't chart yet on adult R&B, her forte. Well, she makes up for it this week by coming in at #10, by far the highest debut. Since the Adult R&B chart has been around, she has only had two minor Christmas singles make that list...

Soul singer Tank has placed two songs atop the adult R&B list, "Please Don't Go" in 2007 and "Next Breath" earlier this year. He's now in at #32 with "Compliments", featuring rapper T.I. and newcomer Kris Stephens...

Finally, gospel singer and Tyler Perry's co-star Tamela Mann debuts at #38 with "Take Me To The King"...

That's it for this installment, stay tunes, in an hour and a half I'll bring you the newest dance tracks making the charts...
