Soul Sweep: August 18, 2012...

Hey folks, time now for the third part of today's "chart sweeps" of the new music making their debut on Billboard magazine's weekly charts. This time out we'll sample the songs coming on to the R&B//HipHop and Adult R&B radio lists.

On the main R&B/HipHop chart, rappers 2 Chainz and Drake take over the top spot with "No Lie", which makes it two #1 singles in a row the former appears on (after Kanye's "Mercy")..

The highest debut this week is the return of quiet storm goddess Anita Baker, with her first single in seven years (her last was 2005's "Serious"). Previewing her Only Forever album at #61 is a cover of a 1998 single by actor/singer Tyrese, "Lately"...

R. Kelly's second single from his latest album Write Me Back, "Feelin' Single", is still climbing the R&B chart at #19, while his latest, "Green Light", comes in at #87 on the main R&B chart, as well as at #31 on the Adult-R&B-specific list..

Blue-eyed soul singer Alex Boyd debuts at #90 on the main chart and #32 on the adult R&B list with "I Wish I Knew".

The legendary funk group the BarKays pop in at #95 with the song "Grown Folks" with the Unknowns, but unknown is where I can find this song on YouTube or anywhere for that matter...it's so odd since it's already top-20 on the adult-R&B list..

Mariah Carey comes back with a new trainwreck stint on American Idol, and a new single featuring rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill (well it seems they're on the record more than she is), with "Triumphiant" which arrives at a modest #97..

and bringing up the rear at #100 is rapper Dizzy D with "How Do You Want It" featuring Erin Rogers..

Over on the Adult R&B list, John Legend and Ludacris spend another week at #1 with "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)", while the highest debut all the way up at #22 is Latin R&B singer Miguel with "Adorn"...

British soul singer Estelle follows up her #1 Adult R&B hit "Thank You" with "Wonderful Life" at #30...

Q (Quinnes) Parker, lead singer of the R&B quartet 112, strikes out on his own at #35 with "Yes"...

That's it for now, stayed tuned in 90s minutes I'll bring you the latest on country radio...

I'm so stoked for a new album from her...she's been through so much, and my friend Karl will be extra happy...she's just flawless.
