Soul Sweep: August 11, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for the third part of today's "Chart Sweeps" of the latest music to hit Billboard magazine's music charts. This time out we'll look at the songs making their way onto the R&B/HipHop and the Adult R&B radio lists.

On the main R&B/Hip Hop chart, Kanye West's "Mercy" holds on to #1 for a fifth week.

The highest debut on that list, though, I cannot explain. It doesn't even have a video yet, but "Bandz Bandz (Get Your Money On)" by BandzUp comes in all the way up at #62... (Click below to see the rest of the post)

Arriving at #80 is Elle Varner who scored a top-10 R&B hit earlier this year with "Refill". She's back with the followup, "I Don't Care"...

Georgia-born rapper Ca$h Out is just coming off of a #2 R&B/top-40 pop hit "Cashin' Out", and he's back at #83 with "Big Booty"...(NSFW)

Singer Will Downing debuted last week on the Adult list with "One Step Closer", and he comes on to the big chart this week at #84...

Rapper 2 Chainz succeeds his #2 R&B hit "No Lie" with "Birthday Song" featuring Kanye West at #86..(NSFW)

Singer K'la gets an assist from rapper Nas on "Blame", entering at #92...I'm liking this a bnuch...

Rapper King L. pops in at #94 with "Val Venis"...(NFSW)

and lastly, at #100 is Kelly Rowland, who since departing from Destiny's Child has hit the #1 on the R&B chart twice, first in 2002 on "Dilemma" with rapper Nelly (a pop #1 hit as well), and then last year with "Motivation" for seven weeks. Lil' Wayne guested on that track, as he does on "Ice"...

Meanwhile over on the Adult R&B radio chart, John Legend and Ludacris spend another week on top with "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)"...

The highest entry here is singer Eric Benet, who is coming off a top-5 hit with "Real Love". His latest at #38 is "Red Bone Girl"...

One rung under that at #39 is Brian Owens, with his "Open (Lovely Day)"... That's it for this time, I'm liking the Will Downing, K'La, and Eric Benet songs. Stay tuned, in 90 minutes I'll sample the latest on country radio. Groove on!
