Robbed Hit of the Week 8/13/12 - Huey Lewis & The News' "Workin' For A Livin'"....
Huey Lewis & The News - "Workin' For A Livin'"
from the album Picture This (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #41
This week's Robbed Hit is by Bay Area mainstream-rockers Huey Lewis & The News, who followed up their first two singles from their breakthrough album Picture This with a song that probably is more recognized today that those other hits. Written by Lewis and guitarist Chris Hayes, "Workin' for A Livin'" was the bar-band equivalent of Loverboy's blue-collar "Workin' For The Weekend"...
But while the song peaked in the top-20 on rock radio (like their pop top-tenner "Do You Believe In Love"), the single stopped at #41 on the pop charts for two weeks. The band would remedy this with their next album, Sports, which sported four consecutive top-10 hits.

Garth Brooks re-recorded the song with Lewis for his Ultimate Hits set in 2007, and took the single to the top-20 on the country chart...
