Aussie Sweep: August 22, 2012...
Hey folks, it's time for this week's "Aussie Sweep", where we sample the newest music selling in Australia, courtesy of their official charts.
This week's #1 song is also the top debut. It's from Guy Sebastian, who won the first season of Australian Idol in 2003. Guy was born in the southeastern country of Malaysia, and now is a judge on that countries version of the X Factor. "Battle Scars" is his fifth #1 single here, which gives him quite a good track record for an Idol alum. The track features rapper Lupe Fiasco, who had a top-5 hit of his own in 2010 with "The Show Goes On"..

American country phenomenon Taylor Swift has topped the chart down under once, in 2008, with "Love Story". She has an excellent shot of making it two with her newest, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", which debuts up at #13...
Another singing competition show judge, Delta Goodrem from The Voice Australia, has an even bigger scorecard than Guy does, with eight #1 hits and all three of her albums topping the charts in Australia. Her latest, "Dancing With A Broken Heart", comes in at #15...
British indie-rock group Mumford & Sons reached #3 with their first single from their debut album, "Little Lion Man", and now enters at #38 with the first one from their second, "I Will Wait"...
Another Idol alum, Jessica Mauboy, is from Darwin, in the Northern Territory, and after coming in second in the fourth season she's racked up five top-10 singles here, including the #1 "Burn". Her latest, "Gotcha", pops in at #50..it's from the Aussie girl-group movie The Sapphires...
Scottish singer Emeli Sande's highlight from the Olympic closing ceremonies, "Read All About It Part 3", comes in at #58. The original Part 1 with rapper Professor Green was a top-40 hit here last year...
American R&B/pop singer Jason Derulo topped the Aussie chart in 2009 with "In My Head", and he's back at #63 with "Pick Up The Pieces"...
Australian dance act Knife Party is made of two of the members of the group Pendulum, and they are at #80 with "Bonfire"...
Another homegrown electronica duo, The Presets, are at #81 with "Ghosts"...
Swedish DJ Avicii enters at #98 with "Silhouettes. His last, "Levels", reached #24 here...
Finally, Queensland metalcore band the Amity Affliction round it out at #100 with "Chasing Ghosts"...
