Pop Sweep: August 11, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for the first part of this week's "Chart Sweeps" of the tallies from Billboard magazine's music charts. This time out I'll bring you the latest music on the Hot 100 and adult pop charts.

This week on the Hot 100, Carly Rae Jepsen spends an eighth week at the top (tying Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" for the longest stay at #1 this year) with "Call Me Maybe".

That highest debut this week, at #89, is from Virginia-based rapper Pusha T, who after appearing on Kanye West's two top-20 singles "Runaway" and "Mercy", has a hit of his own with "New God Flow", featuring Kanye (of course), from the upcoming "Good Music" compilation Cruel Summer (which also contains "Mercy")...(NSFW)

Also appearing on the "Mercy" single, rapper 2 Chainz has his "No Lie" already in the top-40, and follows it with "Birthday Song" (also featuring Kanye West) at #91...(NSFW)

Nicki Minaj comes in at #92 with a song that's the sonic kin to her last top-5 pop hit "Starships", and already has made the British top-10, "Pound The Alarm"...and I think this has the potential to be huge..(NSFW)

Now that we had three rappers, time for three country stars. First off at #94 is Miranda Lambert, whose last single, "Over You", topped the country radio chart and made the Hot 100 top-40, has her third single from Four The Record, "Fastest Girl In Town",with a video with "the fastest girl", Danica Patrick...

Country trio Rascal Flatts chart their second single from Changed, following #1 country hit "Banjo", at #98 with "Come Wake Me Up"...

and bringing it in at #100 is Nashville Star winner Chris Young, who's in with the title song from his latest album, Neon, which already has sent two singles to #1 on the country charts and top-40 on the big chart, "Tomorrow" and "You"...

Meanwhile, over on the Adult Pop radio chart, Maroon 5 are still on top with "Payphone" for the fifth week, and they own the highest entry with "One More Night" at #30...

Las Vegas rockers Imagine Dragons come in at #37 with a song they have taken top-10 on the Rock Songs, Alternative, and Triple-A radio charts, "It's Time"...

French DJ/producer David Guetta crosses over to adult-pop radio at #39 with his top-10 pop hit "Titanium" featuring Australian singer Sia...

And at #40 is a personal favorite of mine, British singer Rebecca Ferguson, the runner up on the seventh season of the UK version of the X Factor (the "Matt Cardle" year), with her first stateside hit, which has already been top-10 in her home country, "Nothing's Real But Love'....

That's it on the "pop" side...stay tuned, in 90 minutes I'll bring you the latest on the rock radio...
