This week Taylor Swift is unavoidable (like at a wedding reception), and her "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (is that a threat or a promise) jumps in at #5. Taylor's had one previous UK top-10: "Love Story" went to #2 in 2008...
Rapper Devlin scored his first top-10 single this week with "Watchtower" featuring singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. His previous best was the #15 hit "Runaway" in 2010...This is intense!
Canadian rockers Simple Plan debut up at #12 with "Summer Paradise" featuring dancehall singer Sean Paul. This is the band's second top-40 hit in the UK; they previously peaked at #26 in 2006 with "When I'm Gone". Their new one has already reached the top-10 in Australia, Germany, and their homeland...

British rockers Muse had racked up four top-10 singles here, including the #4 hit "Supermassive Black Hole" in 2006. They also had the official Olympic song with "Survival", and follow that single up with "Madness" at #35. It's from their upcoming album The 2nd Law which I'm eagerly awaiting...
Cover Drive, a vocal pop group from the Caribbean island nation of Barbados (aka Rihanna-land), went to #1 here at the beginning of the year with "Twilight". They're back with the fourth single from their debut album, "Explode" featuring rapper Dappy, at #45...
After her audition on the X Factor UK, singer/songwriter Lucy Spraggan already puts her song "Last Night" onto the chart at #70...
British dream-pop band Bastille come in at #90 with "Bad Blood"...
The final new entry is by British singer Paloma Faith, whose excellent sophomore album Fall To Grace gave her a top-10 hit this year with "Picking Up The Pieces". Her latest single arrives at #99, "Just Be"...
That wraps it up for tonight. There's a whole lot of good music going on here. Check in tomorrow for another Song of the Day, candletime, Part two of this week's "Album Sweep", and this week's "Robbed Hit". Cheers!
