Songoftheday 4/9/12 - I was walkin' down a one-way street, just lookin' for someone to meet..

Huey Lewis & The News - "Do You Believe In Love"
from the album Picture This (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #7 (three weeks)

Today's Song of the Day is the breakout single for San Francisco group Huey Lewis & The News. Lewis, born Hugh Cregg, actually went to high school down the road from where I did, though almost twenty years prior. In the 70's he joined the group Clover, whose members backed Elvis Costello on his classic My Aim Is True album. After returning to the states, the band morphed into the News, and with their second album, saw them hitting the US top-10 with a song penned by AC/DC / Def Leppard producer and later Shania Twain svengali Robert "Mutt" Lange.

These days Lewis and the boys slow down the tempo (and the key) in concert..

and here's Lange's Supercharge's "Original" version...
