Robbed hit of the week 4/13/12 - George Duke's "Shine On"...
George Duke - "Shine On"
from the album Dream On (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #41
Hey folks, one a week I'm slippin' in a non-top 40 hit that deserved much better. This time it's jazz-funk artist George Duke, with his smooth post-disco thump of "Shine On". It just missed the top-40, but should have.
George Duke was the man with the "keytar", and had a classic quiet-storm jam "Sweet Baby" with partner Stanley Clarke in the early 80s. Since then he's backed everyone from Miles Davis to Regina Belle.
