Today's Song of the Day is the wedding-party staple by Jersey City R&B outfit Kool & The Gang that's not "Celebration". At this stage of their career, the band had completely transitioned from a Bar-Kays-style funk group to the smooth post-disco soul that gave them their biggest hits. "Get Down On It" was the third single, following the top-20 single "Take My Heart" and unfairly-stalled-at-#89 "Steppin' Out". It has a slowed-down four-on-the-floor beat that gives singer J.T. Taylor the room to shoot out his "Howya gonna do it..." hook.

The song became the group's sixth top-10 pop hit, and reached the top-5 of Billboard's R&B chart as well. In 1996 reality star/singer Peter Andre scored a top-5 hit in Australia with his version...
