Songoftheday 8/3/12 - My baby loves me he told me that, I never questionned that point of fact...

Aretha Franklin - "Jump To It"
from the album Jump To It (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #24 (two weeks)
Weeks in the top-40: 6

Today's Song of the Day is by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. After her golden years at the Atlantic Record label, with 17 R&B #1 and one pop charttopper ("Respect") under her belt, Aretha switched over to Arista, signed by executive Clive Davis. After releasing two midcharting albums and a few singles that did well on R&B radio but not so much with the mainstream, she hooked up with singer Luther Vandross, who produced her 1982 album Jump To It. The first single, the title track, brought her back to the top-40 for the first time since 1976...

"Jump To It" also gave Aretha her first #1 R&B hit in five years, and started up her comeback. The song also was big in the clubs (thanks to Luther's great production) and made the top-5 there as well..

It also shows up on the rave hit "Frequency" by Altern 8 in 1991
