"G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T." - Changing Faces
from the album All Day, All Night (1997)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #8 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 22

Today's song of the day comes from the R&B duo Changing Faces, whose R. Kelly-assisted debut album in 1994 scored a pair of top-40 pop hits with "Foolin' Around" and "Stroke You Up", with the latter climbing all the way to #3 on the American pop Top-40. In the next couple years they had a couple of singles on soundtracks, one of which, 1996's "I Got Somebody Else" from High School High, almost made the pop chart, "bubbling under" at #123, while getting to #49 on Billboard magazine's R&B list. The following year, Cassandra Lucas and Cherisse Rose came back with their sophomore effort, All Day, All Night. The lead single, "G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T.", was again written and produced by Kelly and instead of a come on, this song has the pair kicking out an unfaithful lover...

"G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T." became Changing Faces' third and final top-40 pop hit in June of 1997. The single became their biggest success at urban radio, topping Billboard's R&B chart for a month (four weeks) as well. Internationally, the single was their best in Britain, landing at #10, while placing at #22 in New Zealand. The All Day, All Night album became the duo's highest-ranking set on the Billboard 200 sales chart, peaking at #21, while getting to #6 on their R&B-specific list.

The second single from the record, "All of My Days" featuring a still upcoming Jay-Z, made the R&B top-40 at #38, but stalled down at #65 on the pop Hot 100 tally. Another cut from the set, a cover of Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time", scored them a top-40 hit in the UK at #35.

In 2000, Charisse and Cassandra returned with a third, and what would be their most recent studio album, Visit Me. Lead single "That Other Woman", co-written and produced by neo-soul artist Joe, got to #16 on the R&B chart and #64 on Billboard's pop Hot 100. The remixes of the track, however, got the pair their first and only Dance Club Play hit, going all the way to #5. That was followed by "Ladies Man", which rose to #67 on the R&B list, their most recent success. The album was their third top ten hit on the R&B Albums chart at #9, but stopped short of the main list's top-40 at #46.

Label disputes stopped any more music from them for a long time, though they briefly reunited in 2013 for an unnoticed single. The pair has since split, with Lucas going solo and Rose bringing on another partner in Reefy Scott.
