Songoftheday 9/16/18 - There's an empty chair at my table, there's an empty look in your eyes...

"Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)" - Def Leppard
from the album Adrenalize (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #34 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3

Today's song of the day comes from pop-metal giants Def Leppard, whose 1992 album Adrenalize had already spun off a trio of pop hits with "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad?", "Make Love Like A Man", and "Let's Get Rocked". The fourth release from the record would be the mid-tempo track "Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)". When Adrenalize first came out, rock radio immediately caught on the track, where it would go on to spend five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Written by the band with "Mutt Lange", and produced by Mike Shipley, it would be their biggest success from the album...

"Stand Up" became the fourth and last top-40 pop hit from Adrenalize in January of 1993. Internationally, the singles climbed to #11 in Canada. While the world saw the release of "Heaven Is" as the fifth release, going to #13 in the UK and #24 in Ireland, the US got the ballad "Tonight", which hit #62 on the American pop chart, #13 on the Mainstream Rock list, and #34 in the UK.

Up tomorrow: Soul group promises some precious moments.
