Disco Dessert 9/24/18: "My Claim To Fame" from James Wells...

"My Claim To Fame" was the first and biggest hit for disco artist James Wells. Released as a single in 1978 with "True Love Is My Destiny" as the B-side, the pair charted at #4 on Billboard's Disco/Dance Singles Chart. The song appears on the album of the same name, but he never reached either the pop or R&B chart in America. Wells hailed from Chicago, and the track was written and produced by British disco studio master Ian Levine, who wrote and produced Miquel Brown's "So Many Men, So Little Time", and produced the first singles for boyband Take That. But this would be Wells' only hit; sadly Wells died from AIDS-related illness in 1989. But this big orchestral bop deserved a much better reception.
