Disco Dessert 9/19/18 - "The Get-Down Mellow Sound" from the Players Association...

The Players Association was a jazz-dance group made up of studio musicians that revolved and included some famous names like James Mtume and David Sanborn. They released their self-titled debut album in 1977, but it wasn't until their fourth set three years later that they had their biggest club hit. "The Get-Down Mellow Sound" was the "B-Side" of the double-sided 12 inch single along with "We Got The Groove", the title track of that album. The combined single reached #18 on Billboard's Disco/Dance Singles chart. The "Sound" also became the act's sole hit on the R&B chart, reaching #59. They lasted until the end of the disco era in the early 80s.
