Disco Dessert 9/14/18: "In The Bush" from Musique...
Put together in New York City by producer Patrick Adams, this trio of Christine Wiltshire, Gina Tharps, and Mary Seymour released their debut album in 1978. From it title track "Keep On Jumpin" and the notorious nugget of "In The Bush" climbed to spend two weeks at #1 on Billboard's Disco/Dance Singles chart. "In The Bush" would go on to reach the American R&B chart at #29 and the pop Hot 100 at #58, but across the pond in the UK it would be a top-40 pop hit at #16. I know this was big since my dad has recorded this on his 8-track player (along with the B-52's "Love Shack" and Freez' "IOU"), but the double entendre of the lyrics kept pop radio from catching on. Oh, those innocent times...
