Disco Dessert 9/25/18: "Dancin' & Prancin'" by Candido...

Candido Camero is a veteran Afro-Cuban drum and percussion player who got his start way back in Cuba in the 1940s, recording with different bandleaders before releasing his own music starting in 1956. In 1979, Candido signed with disco label Salsoul Records and released the seminal album Dancin' & Prancin'. From that set his remake of the Santana song "Jingo" went to #21 on Billboard's Disco/Dance chart, but the title track was just as essential. He's still around at #97, after winning a National Endowment of the Arts jazz masters award.
