Songoftheday 6/15/18 - Don't call me Gigolo don't call me Casanova, just call me on the phone and baby come on over...

"Make Love Like A Man" - Def Leppard
from the album Adrenalize (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #36 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3

Today's song of the day comes from pop-metal band Def Leppard, who returned to the American pop charts in the spring of 1992 with their stoner-kid anthem "Let's Get Rocked". The second release from the Adrenalize album was another delve into puerile (and carnal) pleasures, with the stomping rock of "Make Love Like A Man". Written by producer Robert "Mutt" Lange with the band's lead singer Joe Elliott, guitarist Phil Collen, and the late Steve Clark, who had passed away at the recording of the album, the lighthearted romp was maybe just a little too silly. The music video was their first to include new guitarist Vivian Campbell...

"Make Love Like A Man" became the second top-40 pop hit from the Adrenalize album (barely) in July of 1992. The song did much better on rock radio, spending a week at #3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Internationally, the single peaked at #10 in Ireland, and reached the top-40 in the UK (#12), Australia (#22), Canada (#23), New Zealand (#26), France (#33), and Switzerland (#40).
