"Get The Cream Off The Top" was a big urban radio hit for the late Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations in the proto-disco days of the mid-1970s. Written by Brian and Eddie Holland, this ode to literally "loving yourself" appeared on his album The Hit Man. While the song didn't make Billboard magazine's disco/dance charts, it climbed to #7 on their R&B list, while topping out at #50 on the official pop Hot 100. It was a DJ favorite in the discos nonetheless.
