Disco Dessert 1/17/20 - "Cherchez La Femme" by Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band...

"Cherchez La Femme" (Looking for the Woman) was a huge club hit for the big-band-styled disco group Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band. Hailing from Brooklyn, not Savannah, the group included the song written by bandleader Stony Browder and his brother August Darnell in their self-titled debut album. On Record World magazine's Disco Top-20, the Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band album charted as one entry, with "Cherchez La Femme" listed with album cuts "Sour and Sweet" and "I'll Play The Fool" as prime cuts. As such it spent one week at #1 in 1976, racking up five months (20 weeks) on the chart. The song also peaked at #27 on Billboard magazine's pop Hot 100, and #31 on their R&B chart.
