Disco Dessert 1/15/20 - "Poinciana" by Paradise Express...

"Poinciana" was a club hit for the husband and wife duo of Paradise Express. Herb and Vi-Ann Jimmerson (man, do I love those names) hail from San Francisco, and included the song on their self-titled debut album. A remake of a song that went to #3 by crooner Bing Crosby in 1944, "Poinciana" was written back in 1936 by Buddy Bernier and Nat Simon, and was the "B-side" of the single that had the disco track "Dance" (written by disco vet Paul Jabara) as the "A-side". While "Dance" along went to #71 on the R&B chart, both songs were listed together in Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40, and climbed to #17 in 1979...
