Robbed hit of the week 2/4/19 - Duran Duran's "Too Much Information"...
"Too Much Information" - Duran Duran
from the album Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) (1993)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #45
This week's "robbed hit" comes from new wave veterans Duran Duran, who had regrouped with original members Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, and John Taylor along with new guitarist Warren Cuccurullo for their "comeback" album in 1993, which rewarded them with a pair of top ten pop hits in America with "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone". The third and final single from the album was the upbeat aggro-dance-rock political track "Too Much Information". Written by the full band who produced the record with John Jones, it may not have gotten as much love since it wasn't as wistfully nostalgic as the other two hits, but in the end this was a damn solid groove...
While "Too Much Information" climbed to #30 on Billboard magazine's Modern Rock chart, and the remixes got it up to #17 on their Dance Club Play list, "Too Much Information" stalled a few notches from the pop top-40 in America in October of 1993. The song did reach that level in their native Britain, peaking at #35. In Canada, it got a little closer, topping out at #43.
