Friday's here, and it's time to run down my top 100 "hit" tunes from the previous week. Joel Corry and MNEK remains at #1 for a second week, while All Time Low (pictured above) climbs into the top ten. Former big hits from Sia, Sam Hunt, Kane Brown, the Head and the Heart, Charlie Wilson, and Regard/Raye drop off my list, while songs from I Don't Know How But They Found Me, Bastille, and Bruce Springsteen make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Operation Warp Concede needs to commence!
This Week Song/Artist (last week's position in parentheses)
There are nine songs making their debut on my chart this week (besides the three re-entering tracks) (highlighted in blue), and if you click on any of them, you'll connect to that artist's official website for more information. And here they are on video, after the break...
The highest entry of the week actually is not a debut, but rather the return of a song that was on the list in a different form not too long ago. "Levitating", from Dua Lipa, originally was on here because of the version featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott, but now returns in a different remix which has DaBaby instead. It looks to be this one that mainstream radio has latched on to, and as such the song rockets back on at #79, and it would be wrong of me not to include it here...
The top "true" debut comes from Royal & The Serpent, aka alt-rock songstress Ryan Santiago in a "Florence & The Machine" style moniker with her first hit single "Overwhelmed" at #83...
Anabel Englund takes her #1 dance radio hit "Picture Us" to my list at #84...
Crossover country trio Lady A have their first hit after shortening their name (don't start me) with "Champagne Night" at #90...
R&B singer Trey Songz returns with Summer Walker in tow on his single at #91, "Back Home"...
Swedish-born neo-soul singer Snoh Aalegra arrives at #93 with "Whoa" featuring singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell...
Art-metal band the Deftones are back at #94 with "Ohms", the title track to their ninth studio album...
South African producer Master KG and singer Nomcebo Zikode dance in at #97 with Nigerian singer Burna Boy with the remix of his viral video hit "Jerusalema"...
Yes, it must be 2020, because Justin freaking Bieber makes my 100 (albeit at #99) with his self-pity screed "Lonely" with Benny Blanco...
The final newbie of the week at #100 comes from record label Internet Money with rapper Gunna along with Don Toliver and Nav with "Lemonade"...
